What is instructional design?

Instructional Design may best be thought of as a process – with the overall goal being to enhance learning. Instructional design begins with identifying needs and goals, creating effective strategies for communicating the necessary information, and applying those strategies in a way that enhances learning, increases retention, and improves performance. In short, instructional design strives to create an instructional curriculum that fits the needs of the audience and their environment.
